Tourette Syndrome


Tourette syndrome is a neurological disorder characterized by repetitive, stereotyped, involuntary movements and vocalizations called tics. Tourettes were founded by this gentlemen. Dr. Georges Gilles de la Tourette who pioneered this disease when describing the disease in an 86 year old French Nobleman.

Symptoms of Tourette Syndrome


Noticed in early Childhood from ages 3-9

Occurs in all ethnic groups and it will happen 4 times more in men than women

Tics are either complex or simple

Simple tics include: eye blinking, shoulder shrugging, face grimacing,

Complex tics include two minor simple tics at the same time.

May have difficulty in social interaction

Sensory Problems may occur

Hard to focus
